Construction work almost up to date!
As you will all have seen the construction work on the new greens planned within the boundaries of the current course have now all been completed, seeded and now the seed is beginning to emerge. Despite the awful weather we are now experiencing!
Also in the new field most of the fairways are now seeded and 2 of the 3 greens complete. Unfortunately drainage problems and now the turn in the weather has stopped progress on the final green site in this area. If the weather improves we will continue with this work.
So the good news is that we are almost up to date in our plans as we had hoped.
We do not envisage the problem with the final green in that field to affect the overall plan to open the new 18 layout in 2008.
However in the interests of ensuring that construction work remains up to date or even ahead of schedule we have decide to close the front 9 holes for the next few months. The front 9 holes will close from Monday 30th October
This will allow the following to take place:
The Two New Green sites to grow in without golf and golfers affecting the surface
New Tee Site and Bunker developments which will interfere with play to be completed during this time.
The front 9 holes will then reopen in March 2007
(the exact date in March will be determined nearer the time when construction progress and weather can be taken into account)
In order to ensure this decision does not affect your enjoyment of the course the following procedures have been put into place:
- No construction work will be undertaken on the back 9 holes during this time. These holes will remain on full tees and greens (except the 11th) unless closed as per our current golf course policy and procedures document
- Tee times will be put back to 10 minute intervals so allowing those playing 18 holes to slot into the second 9 as they come off the 9th/18th green as smoothly as possible.
- Elmwood Golfing Society winter medals on a Sunday will be allocated as long as required to get all competitors through the 10th holes before other season ticket holders and visitors can start their round.
- All season ticket holders will be given 2 free guest tickets for use in the 2007 golf season
We appreciate your co-operation and patience at this time and trust you can see the long term benefits to you as a season ticket member of Elmwood Golf Course. I hope you also appreciate our desire to continue with the re construction project in as timely a manner as possible whilst at the same time ensuring the newly seeded sites get the best chance to grow in. The remaining back 9 are quality golf holes and so better to play these twice during this phase of the project!
(With the above measures put into place there should be no reduction in the overall service we offer to you, therefore we do not intend to reduce fees to season ticket holders, guests or visitors at this time)
